Letters of George Williams [manuscript] 1862-1864,.

Williams discusses personal, family and war news in letters written chiefly to his sister Lillias. He describes his regiment's activities, travels, camp life and locations, especially Winchester, Va. He tells an anecdote about Colonel William T. Wilson and mentions many battles and Union and Confederate generals. Williams describes deaths in his company and the aftermath of the battles of Winchester and Fishers Hill, 1864 September 19 and 22. In addition he mentions the construction of forts, rebel raids, an incident of attempted arson, and the band in which he was a musician.
